Firefighters near Bixby are dealing with a brush fire that's been burning for almost a day.

The blaze is southwest of Leonard, south of Highway 64 possibly near 129th East Avenue.

Bixby first responders said the fire started Wednesday afternoon.

As of 12:30 p.m. Thursday, firefighters were waiting for the blaze to burn through brush on unoccupied land. They had crews staged and ready for defense at a nearby subdivision.

Fire officials said at this point no homes or structures have been destroyed or are in danger.

Amie Gibson works at the Oklahoma Geological Survey in Leonard. She snapped a couple of photos of the smoke as she drove east on Highway 64 Thursday morning.

We have a crew on the scene gathering details. Stay with KTUL.com for more information.
