Students at the Clary Sage College and the Oklahoma Technical College are offering free haircuts to veterans Monday, Nov. 12.
Veterans looking for a trim-off-the-top can head to CSC at 31st and Sheridan from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. or at OTC, located at 44th and Sheridan from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 5:45 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Haircuts are first come, first serve, so no appointment is necessary.
"We are so excited to be able to give back to the veterans who have given so much for us. We want to honor all of the men and women who have served, or are currently serving, our country and this is the least we can do for them to show our appreciation and support," said Rebecca Banuelos, director of marketing.
Other Veterans Day events happening on Monday, Nov. 12 include:
-Veterans Day Parade beginning at 11 a.m. at 300 S. Main St. in Downtown Tulsa. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 577 have a map of the parade route, which can be found here.
-Prior to the parade, the VFW will be hosting a breakfast for veterans starting at 8 a.m.
-After the parade, the American Legion Post 1 will host a free lunch.
If you can't make the parade, Tulsa's Channel 8 will be broadcasting it.
On Sunday night a tornado went through the town of Carney. It destroyed or damaged about 40 homes. When you look out at the area there are homes in every direction that show some kind of damage. Some of the families that have lived there for 17 years and have never been through anything like this. They didn't even have enough time to get their family in the shelter.
