OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Attorneys for a man convicted of killing an Oklahoma City couple will make their case that their client's life should be spared.

A clemency hearing for 37-year-old George Ochoa is scheduled Friday before the Pardon and Parole Board in Oklahoma City. If the panel recommends clemency, Gov. Mary Fallin could commute Ochoa's death sentence to life in prison.

Ochoa and co-defendant Osbaldo Torres were convicted in the July 1993 deaths of Francisco Morales and Maria Yanez in their Oklahoma City home. Authorities say the couple's children witnessed the crime.

Torres' sentence was commuted to life in prison without parole by former Gov. Brad Henry in May 2004. Mexican officials had raised concerns that Torres, a Mexican citizen, did not have a chance to speak with officials at the Mexican consulate.
