With
the holidays coming, we're all looking forward to having a little
time-off.
But
would you believe that millions of Americans, don't use all their
vacation time?
A
new Harris poll, done for Expedia.com, shows the average worker
leaves 2-days on the table every year.
Plus
this year the typical works only gets 12 days off, compared to 14 in
2011.
An
expert on human resources says that's a terrible waste for workers
and their employers.
Sarah
Gavin of Expedia, com, says those who use their time off, are better
employees who are happier at work and have improved creativity.
But
their survey shows the most common excuse for wasting vacation is not
enough time and money.
She
says workers would be better off just taking some time at home,
because the work always gets done.
If
money is the concern, Gavin says there are great vacation deals
around Thanksgiving and Christmas.
While
everyone is visiting grandma's house, big city hotels, sit almost
empty.
You
can get a 4-star hotel for a 2 -tar price on the weekends either side
of Thanksgiving.
That's
a 30 to 40% savings.
So
a low cost driving vacation, to Dallas or Kansas City, might be a
good deal for you and your employer.
