Calling All Holiday Shoppers! Downtown Muskogee Wants You

Posted: Updated:

Downtown Muskogee has seen about ten new businesses open in the past year. The new business owners want to see a good turnout of holiday shoppers in the coming weeks.

"I think a lot of people don't come downtown as much, because they don't know that there's so many businesses," said Dolce employee Kaitlyn Teague.

Jonita Mullins works at the Downtown Muskogee office. She said, "We're eager to support these young business owners any way we can. Get the word out about them and encourage people to shop these young local businesses."

Downtown Muskogee's newest shop opened earlier this week. Nicholas Wilks, 22, opened Erly Rush Coffeehouse after winning a contest earlier this year to get help launching a business. He said he has seen an explosion of interest in shopping downtown.

To support these shops, Downtown Muskogee, is organizing its event, "Ol' Time Downtown Christmas" for the Thursday after Thanksgiving. On November 29th, shops will stay open past their usual hours with special deals and entertainment.

Mullins said it is important for Muskogee residents to, "Keep their money where their house is."
