9-Year-Old Accused of Attacking Teacher After School Assembly

Posted: Updated:

An Oklahoma elementary school student is facing assault and battery charges after he allegedly attacked a teacher.

The suspect in the case is a 9-year-old in Edmond and is accused of hitting a teacher several times in the face.

"There was a teacher who tried to slide the student down the bench in the gym to make way for other students and the student kicked the teacher," Edmond police spokeswoman Jenny Monroe said.

The child has now been cited for assault and battery.

According to the police report, the student then "sucker punched" the teacher in the face once and "before the teacher could get any help from other teachers, the student hit her two more times in the right side of the face."

The name of the 9-year-old cited for the assault is not being released.
