Tulsa Radio Legend Phil Stone Honored At Cain's Ballroom

Posted: Updated:

Family, friends and fans paid tribute to a Tulsa radio legend Thursday evening at the historic Cain's Ballroom. Phil Stone died suddenly last week at the age of 57.

Stone spent 32 years at radio station KMOD. He's best known as half of KMOD's long-running "Morning Zoo" ... hosted by Phil and Brent, who retired together this fall. Brent Douglas told fans at Cain's, "We were just trying to be ourselves and trying to make each other laugh. If we could make each other laugh then maybe somebody else out there was laughing too."

Phil and Brent were known for memorable characters like Roy-D Mercer, who was known for his humorous prank calls. "I don't know what else to say other than rock on Phil buddy," said Douglas. "I know you will. Happy trails partner till we meet again."
