Oklahoma Inmate To Be Executed Tuesday

A federal judge and an appeals court both have rejected an attempt by an Oklahoma inmate to stop his pending execution for the murders of two people.

38-year-old George Ochoa is scheduled to be executed Tuesday for the 1993 shooting deaths of two people in their home in Oklahoma City.

Ochoa has maintained he is innocent and his attorneys claim he is insane.

They say Oklahoma's procedure for determining competency to be executed is unconstitutional.

But a U. S. District Judge in Oklahoma City and a three-judge panel of the U. S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver both denied Ochoa's attempt for a stay of execution.
