Police Discover Burglary Suspect in Ceiling of South Tulsa Office Complex

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa Police arrested a 29-year-old man after he was caught hiding in the ceiling of a south Tulsa office complex.

It happened just before 11:30 p.m. Monday when James Estrada, 29, discovered an open door on the north side of the South Park office complex on 5553 S. Peoria.

Police said that once inside, he gained access to the rest of the building through the ceiling and the use of a crowbar to gain entry to the individual suites.

One of the tenants told TPD that they identified Estrada in the building through the video surveillance he had installed. Another tenant was located inside one of those suites in order to guard from previous burglaries.

Once officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Estrada located in the ceiling with a flashlight and a screwdriver. The crowbar he used to enter the suites also was with him.

According to the report, the building manager and the tenant told officers that Estrada "had no permission to be in the building."

Estrada is now in jail on second degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. He is due in court Dec. 11.
