Tulsa Police Arrest Man in Connection with Two Robberies

Posted: Updated:

A 36-year-old man is behind bars Thursday after police arrested him in connection with two robberies Wednesday evening.

Courtney Fletcher, Tulsa resident, was arrested on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, first degree robbery, assault and battery on a police officer and obstructing an officer. Officers said he was involved in robberies at a local restaurant and a convenience store.

According to the arrest report, police said the first occurred just after 8 p.m. when they responded to a robbery at Kung Fu Kitchen on E. 21st Street. Fletcher entered the business and walked up to the cashier with one hand in his pocket.

He told the individual at the register, "I don't want to hurt you, just give me the money in the register."

Officers said that Fletcher received a considerable amount of money from the cashier and fled from the scene.

Also on Wednesday evening, officers responded to another robbery with an implied weapon at the Fiesta Mart at 6598 E. 21st St. Fletcher was later identified as being the robbery suspect.

In the police report, Fletcher entered the business and approached the cashier and once again implied he had a weapon in his pocket and demanded money. He didn't receive money from the clerk and then fled from the scene.

Then just after 8:45 p.m., an officer located Fletcher at the Save A Lot Grocery Store at 2140 S. Sheridan Rd. When an officer approached him, he fled on foot southbound from the location into a neighborhood.

Officers said he attempted to hide underneath a vehicle and proceeded to run northbound, according to the police report. At that point, an officer tackled the suspect and was struck by Fletcher with his fist.

Fletcher was placed under arrested after being sprayed with OC spray three times.

He is now in the Tulsa County Jail and set to appear in court on Dec. 12.
