Posted: Updated:

Pat Swilling's free throw with 0:03 left on the game clock snapped a 49-49 tie and gave Tulsa a 50-49 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs in front of 4,856 fans at the Donald W. Reynolds Center Saturday afternoon.

Tulsa improved to 6-3 on the season behind freshman D'Andre Wright's team-highs of 14 points and 7 rebounds, while senior Kauri Black and freshman Shaquille Harrison each tallied nine points for the Hurricane. TCU's Garlon Green had a game-high 14 points as the Horned Frogs fell to 6-4 on the campaign.

In the second half, TCU overcame its five-point deficit with a 9-0 run to start the second half for a 34-30 lead at the 15:13 mark. Scottie Haralson's three-pointer ended Tulsa's drought in the first 5:30 after the intermission and brought the Hurricane to within one point at 34-33.

TCU kept the lead until D'Andre Wright's dunk at the 10:14 mark put Tulsa ahead 39-38. After that, there were eight lead changes. Swilling's free throw at 2:30 left on the clock tied the game at 46-46, while one minute later Rashad Ray's layup put the Hurricane ahead 48-46 at the 1:32 mark. TCU went back ahead on Green's three-pointer with 1:05 remaining. It was two front ends of 1-1 free throw attempts that tied and won the game for the Hurricane in the final 0:44.

Wright connected on his first free throw attempt to knot the score at 49-49 with 0:44 on the clock and Swilling's free throw that won the contest for the Hurricane.

Despite 23 turnovers, Tulsa was able to grab the victory before going on the road for the next four games. The Hurricane shot 46-percent for the game and out-rebounded the Frogs 33-27.

Tulsa jumped out to a 6-1 lead to start the game, then the Horned Frogs went on a 7-0 run to take an 8-6 lead with 14:58 remaining in the first half.

Tulsa then took the lead 11-8 on a Scottie Haralson three-point shot and held the lead most of the remaining 13 minutes of the opening 20 minutes. In that span the game was tied twice and Tulsa's biggest lead went to seven points at 18-11 at the 8:45 mark.

The Hurricane held a 30-25 lead at halftime as Wright had highs of 11 points and four rebounds for Tulsa, followed by seven points from Shaquille Harrison.

Tulsa shot 57-percent from the field in the first half with 14 of its 30 points coming in the paint, while holding TCU to 39-percent.
