Knittin' Kittens Give The Gift of Warmth

Posted: Updated:

Some local boys and girls got an early visit from Santa's little helpers.

Students at Reed Early Childhood Development Center received the gift of warmth just as the temperatures dip to below freezing.

Since 2005, a group of seniors called the Knittin' Kittens have been donating hand-made hats and scarves.

The volunteers work year-round knitting and crocheting for anyone in need.

"We make hats and scarves for kids or adults," Joyce Gensler of Knittin' Kittens. "We make cancer patient blankets or chemo hats. We donate to anybody who needs."

This week, they plan to donate 2,500 scarves and hats to 1,250 area students.
