Hilberling Denied Bond Reduction In Murder Case

A Tulsa woman charged with killing her husband will remain behind bars without bond.

Amber Hilberling appeared in a Tulsa court room Tuesday for a bond hearing. She has been held in the Tulsa County Jail without bond since January. A judge denied her request for a lower bond.

Back in January, prosecutors appeared in court to get her bond revoked due to her failing three drug tests. She tested positive for marijuana at the time.

Hilberling is charged with second degree murder after her husband, Josh, fell from the 25th floor of the University Club Tower back in the summer of 2011.

This past September, Hilberling's attorney filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the University Club Tower and is seeking more than $10,000 in damages.

The suit alleges Joshua Hilberling accidentally fell through the window, and it was not up to code, did not have any safety features and was too thin.

"This was a window as large as a dining room table and as thin as a napkin," said Jasen Corns, Hilberling's attorney. "It was dangerously unsafe and had no business in a 25th floor living room. Had the window been reasonably safe, Amber would not be a widow and her child would have a father."

The suit also alleges the apartment complex knew or should have known the glass was unsafe and dangerous.
