Parking Lots Crammed for Last Weekend of Holiday Shopping

Parking lots for grocery and retail stores around Tulsa were packed Friday for the last weekend before Christmas.

One shopper told Channel 8 she has been waiting on a paycheck to finish her grocery shopping, so she got forced into shopping late in the game.

"You're always last minute. What do you do, you know?" said Tana Helm.

Reasor's told Channel 8 shoppers need to hurry to get what they need before Christmas, because the stores will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and will not re-open until 6 a.m. Dec. 26th.

At Toys R Us, a steady flow of shoppers streamed through the doors. A spokesperson for the company told Channel 8, Toys R Us is in a "media blackout," meaning no cameras are being allowed in stores at all through the holiday to prevent distraction.

Shoppers in the Toys R Us parking lot said they were nervous about the crowds, but one shopper said the lines did not take long to get through.

Toys R Us will be open 24 hours on Dec. 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Macy's will also be open 24 hours for a few days.
