Cleanup begins Friday inside a Pawhuska museum that received minor damage in a recent fire.

The blaze broke out early Wednesday at the Osage County Historical Society's museum on Lynn Avenue.

It's an old railroad building that's been converted to hold the heritage of Oklahoma's largest county.

Pawhuska Fire captain Lloyd Arnce told KTUL.com Thursday that the blaze was mainly contained to a back storage room. It held mostly supplies and cleaning tools.

Museum officials said the damage looks much worse than it actually is.

The rest of the museum suffered only minor smoke damage. Some of the exhibits will have to be cleaned but are otherwise unharmed.

Captain Arnce commended crews for working quickly and stopping the fire from destroying important historic items.

There's no word yet on when the museum will reopen.
