Bill Young Out At Oklahoma State

Posted: Updated:

After four-years back at his alma-mater as the defensive coordinator Bill Young is not returning for the 2013 season.

Last year the Cowboys defense was ranked 80th in the country in total defense.

Head coach Mike Gundy announced Thursday that secondary coach Glenn Spencer would be the new defensive coordinator.

"We are appreciative of everything Coach Young has done for us over the past four years," Gundy said, "but we are also excited about heading in a new direction with our defense."

During Young's preparation for the Heart of Dallas Bowl I asked him how special it was to return to Oklahoma State and coach the Cowboys.

"I've loved coaching here.  I still love coaching here." Young said, "It's such an honor and a privilege to go back to your alma-mater and coach.  We've had some great players and great coaches.  It's been fun.  I'm too young to retire.  I'm going to be Young for the rest of my life.  Oh that's my name! There you go! Ha! Ha!"

Coach Young shouldn't have a problem finding a new coaching job.
