Jenks Public School's next superintendent was chosen Monday night during a school board meeting.

Stacey Butterfield will begin her new role as JPS superintendent next year. She was chosen among three other candidates for the job.

Bonnie Rogers with JPS told KTUL.com that Butterfield has been with the district almost 24 years and started as a teacher at the Southeast Elementary school.

Butterfield is currently deputy superintendent for JPS. Outside of her responsibilities with the district she is working on her doctorate and anticipates being finished in May.

Her previous positions include director of communications, assistant principal, associate superintendent and that job became deputy superintendent.

She will take over for Superintendent Kirby Lehman after he retires at the end of the year.
