Posted: Updated:

The Tulsa Health Department is extending clinic hours on Fridays to help vaccinate more people against the flu.

Doctors say it is the single best way to protect against the flu and there is still time to get a shot and it still be effective.   The shot is recommended for everyone over six months old.  Also, those at high risk of serious complications from the flu are strongly encouraged to get the vaccine, including pregnant women, and people with asthma, diabetes, chronic heart and lung disease, and other conditions or a weakened immune system.

The flu vaccine is available on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at these Tulsa Health Department locations:

  5051 S. 129th E. Ave.

  315 S. Utica Ave.

5635 N. Martin Luther King Blvd.

Flu Shots are also offered at these locations:

  Bixby Health Center - 8120 E. 126th St.

Collinsville Health Center - 1201 W. Center St.

Sand Springs Health Center - 306 E. Broadway

The Health Department plans to remain open until 4:00 PM on Fridays through the end of February.
