2013 Elite 8 Ford Award: Week 2 Nominees

Posted: Updated:

In week two of the Elite 8 Ford Award I visited an old friend and met a charming new one.

As always we start with the ladies. Bixby forward Stevi Parker is battling Plantar Fasciitis in her right foot. It's keeping her out of practice, but not games. She scored 25-points last week against Broken Arrow.

Parker is staying here in T-Town next year and will play for the University of Tulsa.

I learned a few things about her today. There is no question who her favorite Oklahoma City Thunder player is, it's KD. She eats candy like a... well... lets just say she eats a lot of candy. And she wants to study medicine when she gets to college.

On the guys side Owasso's Jaylen Lowe is no stranger to the Elite 8 or the Ford Award. He's a two-time Elite 8 finalist and a finalist for our football award. He is the only one to ever accomplish that feat.

He's an amazing two-sport star and is going to have a tough decision to make next year when he goes off to college. Which sport to play? Football or basketball.

As good an athlete as Jaylen is he's just as good a guy. He's one of my favorites and it's been a pleasure to cover him the last couple of years.

Congrats guys!
