Human Bones Found, Mystery Surrounds Identity

Posted: Updated:

It was not the easiest scene to navigate. Overgrown with weeds, littered with leaves, and scattered amongst the broken limbs, were the bones.

"We've located what appears to be some human remains," said Sgt. Travis Jones of the Tulsa County Sheriff's Department.

A skull, being part of the discovery, complete with a hole in it, cause unknown.

"I don't know if there's anything natural or unnatural about it, so that'll be up to the medical examiners office," he said.

As to the identity of the remains? No clothing, no id, but it is an area...

"We always see homeless people walking down there," said area resident Cindy Jack.

Which locals say has a high volume of indigent.

"We see a lot of what we consider river people down there," said homeowner Robert Stotler.

If it was foul play...

"Nothing is surprising," said Stotler.

The location's isolation makes it a prime area to hide something.

"I'd like to see them patrol this area a little bit more," said Jack.

A mystery at the levee. A dividing line between a connected neighborhood, and a disconnected no man's land.

"There's a lot of bad stuff that goes on just the other side of the levee that you don't always see, you know, out of sight, out of mind," said Stotler.
