Oklahoma Highway Patrol announced that westbound lanes of the Creek Turnpike were open Monday morning after investigating a "suspicious package."
It happened around 4:20 a.m. when OHP received a tip advising of two suspicious suitcases placed at the Jenks Toll Plaza in the westbound traffic pay lane.
Oklahoma Turnpike spokesman Jack Damrill told KTUL.com that a "suspicious package" was found at the toll gate and that troopers shut down westbound lanes of the turnpike for an investigation.
Traffic was diverted at the Peoria/Elm exit and cars were advised to take side streets to reach Highway 75.
According to a release from OHP, bomb techs used a robot to perform initial contact with the cases. After performing x-rays, troopers found there were no explosive or dangerous items inside the suitcases.
OHP said the cases contained personal items and were taken into custody.
