One of the critical issues in medicine, is the availability of blood when there's an emergency.

Without a dependable supply, a major surgery or the recovery from an accident might not be possible.

Right now the Oklahoma Blood Institute is trying to avoid a shortage.

O.B.I.'s Sara Wilson says this can be a difficult time of year for donations.

To make sure they don't run short, they're teaming up with Verizon Wireless this Saturday.

It's February 1st at their store, at 10031 East 72st Street.

The donations are needed for 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
