Students Try To Prevent Underage Drinking At Super Bowl Parties

Posted: Updated:

A group of local high school students are working to prevent underage drinking at Super Bowl parties this weekend.

Students from the "Safe Team" at Bixby High School put stickers on beer cartons at a local Reasor's store.

The stickers read "Check Your Fridge Lately?  Teens report their own home or a friend's home as two common pleas they drink alcohol.  Keep teens alcohol free!"

Bixby Senior Adam Laizure took part in the project.   He says, "parents aren't as aware as they should be knowing their kids could be taking alcohol from the cabinets, and from the fridge."

The ABLE Commission supervised the "sticker shock" campaign.

Oklahoma's "Social Host" Law makes it a crime to provide a place for minors to drink or take drugs.  It's a felony for adults to furnish alcohol to a minor.
