2013 Elite 8 Ford Award: Week 5 Nominees

Posted: Updated:

We are over half way from completing the list for the 2013 Elite 8 Ford Award.

I was highly entertained and impressed by our week 5 nominees.

On the girls side, Faith Ihim confesses she likes to dance, but she's not very good at it.  She's probably being too hard on herself.  Faith leads the state in points per game and is second in rebounding.  She's the type of player that just doesn't have an off switch.  She works hard from the opening jump until the final whistle.

Faith excels in the classroom as well.  Her coach tells me her GPA is 5th best at Memorial High School.

Our boys nominee is a guy who's easy to like.  He's just really fun! Brian Speaks of Edison High School seems to have a pretty happy go lucky attitude and says he'd like to become a sportscaster someday.  I believe he'd be great at it.

He shares the court with his younger brother Darius.   Brian says playing with his brother is great because they know where the other is going to be all the time.  He has another brother who helps coach the Eagles.  He also plays with the memory of an older brother who died when Brian was younger.

Brian and Faith are two really cool people and it's an honor to have them join the other Elite 8 Ford Award nominees.
