Tulsa Police Searching for Escaped Vinita Inmate

Tulsa Police are asking the public for assistance in locating an escaped inmate out of Vinita Wednesday.

James S. Maxwell escaped this morning around 7:30 from the Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Center in Vinita. He had been incarcerated on charges of assault and battery on a police officer and charged previously with possession of an illegal substance and bail jumping.

According to the release from TPD, Maxwell has Tulsa ties and could possibly be in the Tulsa area.

Police describe Maxwell as being a white male with black hair and brown eyes. He is 6 foot 2 inches tall and weighs 235 pounds. He also reportedly has several tattoos including swastikas on his arm and back.

Anyone with information about Maxwell is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
