Flu Watch: State Officials Report One New Death in Tulsa County

Department of Health officials reported four more deaths due to the flu Thursday morning in their weekly update to the public.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health report released Thursday shows there have now been 30 deaths and 26 new hospitalizations since the previous report was released last week.

A spokeswoman with the department told KTUL.com that one of those deaths were reported here in Tulsa County. The others were one in Comanche County and two in Oklahoma County.

Tulsa County has seen seven deaths due to the flu since the season began, according to the department's website. There have been a total of 279 hospitalizations in the county.

The health department officials also told Channel 8 that the deaths reported this week all came from persons 65 years and older.

Since the start of the flu season in September, there have been a total of 987 deaths. The season runs through May.
