The Cherokee County District Attorney decides to not file charges against a teenager who killed a pit bull with an arrow.
On February 14, 18-year-old Casein Green posted a photo on Facebook of the incident.
The teenager defended his action saying the dog charged at him.
According to the DA's report sent to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, "it is extremely common for domestic animals to be dumped/discarded in this area. According to Green, he tried to shoo the dogs away, but one of the dogs remained -- a pit bull.
DA Jack Thorp told KTUL.com that because he couldn't disprove the teen's claims of self defense, they don't plan to file an animal cruelty charge.
The DA's office also say the Facebook posting is likely covered under Freedom of Speech.
