Minutes after the first wreck, a second wreck involving two pick-up trucks happened about a block South near 22nd & Garnett.A series of crashes along Garnett Road in East Tulsa kept emergency crews busy Saturday Night.
The first wreck happened just before ten o'clock at the intersection of 21st Street South and Garnett. Tulsa Police tell KTUL.com, a red pick-up truck heading Eastbound on 21st ran a red light and slammed head-on into a white Ford Explorer trying to turn South onto Garnett.
Inside the Explorer was a family of six who appeared to be uninjured, save for a few bumps and bruises.
Tulsa Police Officer Joshua Showman says alcohol may have played a role in the crash. When officers arrived they found what appeared to be open containers and a strong smell of alcohol coming from the cab of the pick-up.
Further investigation revealed the driver of the pick-up did not have a driver's license or insurance. The driver was transported by EMSA to a local hospital where he's being treated for minor injuries.
Officer Showman says, at this point, it's likely the driver will be charged with driving without a license, driving without insurance and a few other traffic violations.
Just minutes after emergency crews arrived on scene, another crash happened about a block South near 22nd and Garnett.
Driver, Dennie Edwards tells KTUL.com, he was heading South on Garnett when the driver of a pick-up pulling out of a parking lot crashed into his Ford Ranger.
According to Edwards, the driver of the pick-up that hit him then fled from the scene.
A suspect description was not immediately available from police.
