Posted: Updated:

Police are seeking information on a suspect Monday afternoon after an 24-year-old Army specialist was struck on his bicycle by another vehicle.

Broken Arrow Police responded to State Highway 51 near the intersection of Nashville Street just after 4:30 Monday morning. At the scene emergency personnel found Brendan Simmons struck by a vehicle and injured as a result of the collision.

According to the release sent out this morning, Simmons was riding a bicycle on the shoulder of the highway eastbound when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle. He was thrown from the bicycle and came to rest in a drainage ditch on the west side of the highway.

Simmons, a Tulsa resident, was transported to an area hospital and is now in stable condition. He told officers that he was riding his bicycle to work at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in east Broken Arrow when the collision occurred.

The vehicle that hit Simmons didn't stop when he hit him and left the scene, according to the release. There were no witnesses to the collision and the only information available is that the vehicle may have damage to the front passenger side.

Broken Arrow Police are seeking any information possible about the vehicle and driver involved in this collision. Anyone with information can contact Broken Arrow Police at 918-259-8400 or call the Crime Stoppers number at 918-596-COPS.
