River Sprit Casino to Build 22-Story Tower on Arkansas River

Posted: Updated:

The Creek Nation has announced an expansion plan for the River Spirit Casino at 81st and Riverside.

The development will feature a 22-story tower with 500 hotel rooms, a Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Casino and Restaurant.

"I am happy to bring a few palm trees and frozen concoctions to the banks of the Arkansas River," said Jimmy Buffett. "The first time I ever saw Tulsa was from the stage at Cain's Ballroom awhile back.  It is an honor to be returning as part of this great new entertainment complex in association with River Spirit and the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.  I look forward to getting back to Tulsa and playing there again real soon."

The tower will be packed with amenities, including a world-class spa, fitness center, retail shops and a pool deck overlooking the Arkansas river.

The $250 million investment will add 800 new jobs and 1,800 construction jobs.

This project will be the largest private Arkansas River Development in Tulsa's history, an investment to rival the BOK Center and ONEOK Field combined.

"Our primary goal is to make sure our guests have fun and enjoy the experience," Muscogee Nation Casinos CEO Pat Crofts said.  "This new development will put Tulsa on the entertainment map and attract people from neighboring states."

Work would begin in the fall, and the tower would be completed in a year and a half to two years.
