Cowboys Playing Smart To The Big Dance

Posted: Updated:

The President Barack Obama picks the Indiana Hoosiers to win the national title this season.  He also likes the Oklahoma State Cowboys to get past Oregon Thursday afternoon, but that's as far as he has them advancing.

Regardless of which side of the aisle or state you sit on, It would be a shame to see Marcus Smart and this team finish short of the Sweet 16.

Smart has been such a fun player to watch.  He's so talented that this is probably his only year at Oklahoma State.  He says he's teammates have helped him navigate his freshman season.

"I have a lot of great teammates you know Markel and Le'Bryan have a lot of experience," Smart said. "They've been here before.  They just help me through when things get a little overwhelming. This is a brotherhood and we stick together through thick and thin."

Marcus was the Big 12 Player of the Year as a freshman and he led the Cowboys in scoring with over 15-points a game.

He's a big physical point guard and he has the Oregon Ducks respect.

"He's an unbelievable talent.  He has great size for a point guard," said Oregon Forward EJ Singler. "I think that's where he's a match up problem just on how big he is and strong he is.  But definitely we're going to have to get after him.  I think Johnny and D.A will match up with him good.  I think they can pressure him and make him do things he hasn't done off season."

The 5th-seeded Oklahoma State Cowboys will face the 12th-seeded Oregon Ducks Thursday in San Jose around 3:50pm.
