Race for County Commissioner Starts to Heat Up

Posted: Updated:

By the looks of his coffee table, Ron Peters is keeping the frame industry alive and well with his family pride.

"Two kids and six grand kids," he smiled.

Of which, Ella, seen here holding Tinkerbell, is not one of them. She's the daughter of fellow candidate Brandon Perkins, and is ready for the media spotlight even more than her dad.

"When she heard this was coming up she got all dolled up and said, 'This is my chance!'" he said.

And this is your chance to meet two candidates for county commissioner.

"I want to make sure this is a positive race," said Perkins.

Brandon Perkins is a real estate developer and a political newbie.

"First time running for anything," he said.

"I want to make sure that Tulsa and Tulsa county remain a place where people want to live and raise a family," said Peters.

Ron Peters served as a state rep for 12 years and runs a public relations firm. Both men are enthusiastic about one day seeing water in the Arkansas river.

"It's been a lot of efforts to get the job done, but I think the main line is it's a great asset for Tulsa we need to make sure it's developed," said Peters.

"It is absolutely important to the vitality of Tulsa, is the river," said Perkins.

Perkins is also passionate about turning troubled kids around.

"How we handle our juvenile offenders, right now we have substandard facilities that really need to be addressed, we want to make sure that those offenders not only have adequate facilities but we can rehab them correctly to make sure that they're good productive citizens," he said.

And Peters; as growth continues to the south, he wants to ensure an environment of smooth progress.

"There's a lot of need for infrastructure, and so I'd want to work cooperatively with Bixby, Jenks, Broken Arrow, Glenpool to make sure the county and the cities come together to fulfill the need of their growth," he said.

A brief glimpse at two candidates for county commissioner, hopefully balanced, especially with my disclosure, that Brandon and I went to high school together.

"I think you're prejudiced," laughed Peters.

"Hey, we're friends right, hey," laughed Perkins.
