Golden Eagles A Win Away From The Final 4

Posted: Updated:

The ORU men's basketball team continues their post-season run Wednesday night.  The Golden Eagles beat U.C. Irvine Monday to advance to the Elite 8 of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.

Up next for Oral Roberts is Weber State Wednesday at 8:00pm.  The Wildcats won the first meeting this season between these two 70-66 on February 23rd.

The winner heads to the final 4.  Although the bracket they're trying to advance in isn't the one we've all filled out, being the last team standing is still their goal.

"I understand it's the CIT and it's not where we want to be," ORU Head Coach Scott Sutton said.  "It's not the tournament we want to win in, but it's the first time we've won a post-season game in 38-years.  For the seniors, they have a chance to keep playing basketball.  I think they're 36 teams, if I count right, that are still playing division-one basketball.  And your one of them.  We're three more games from winning a championship."

Weber State has won their first two games in the CIT by an average of 30 points.  The Golden Eagles have lead by at least 19 points in both of their victories in the CIT.
