Bixby's Chris Harris - A Rising NFL Star

Posted: Updated:

Bixby native Chris Harris is quickly becoming known as one of the top cornerbacks in the National Football League.

He even had a trademark play last season - a 98 yard interception return against eventual Super Bowl Champion Baltimore, the longest interception return for a touchdown in Denver Broncos history.

Harris is entering his third season in the NFL, so his meteoric rise in such a short time could surprise some - but not Harris.

"I've always knew I had the ability to do it," Harris says.  "The work that I put in... I feel like nobody works harder than me."

Harris is also big in the community - both in Denver, and here in Tulsa.  His "ChrisHarrisJR" Foundation is centered around kids in the Denver area.

"I'm doing a football camp at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, " Harris says.  "I do a lot of things with Big Brothers and Big Sisters, too.  I'm probably the most active person in Denver with them.  I just try to open up their eyes, show them that they can do that same things I've done."

Harris was back in Tulsa for the Hospitality House Dancing With Our Stars event on April 6, where he was the Keynote Speaker.

Like many of his football brethren, who have won ABC's Dancing With The Stars, Harris was itching to get out on the dance floor and show off his moves.

"I think I could have won.  I mean, a lot with dancing is you have to have good feet and good hips - I feel like I've got both of those.  With a nice little beat, I feel like I could get on rhythm.  As long as I have a pretty good partner, I think I could've definitely taken home the trophy."
