A 23-year-old convicted felon was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after he reportedly choked a woman during a domestic dispute in east Tulsa.

Tulsa Police arrested Mike Yang on a domestic assault and battery by strangulation complaint Sunday. He was placed in custody at a residence in the 3900 block of S. 131 St. E. Ave. after the officers were assigned to investigate.

According to the arrest report, a woman told officers that Yang became upset with her following an argument with her sister. The victim said he came at her and "choked her in the closet, pushed her down while choking her in the closet maintaining a grip around her neck and placed her against the wall."

The woman also told officers that Yang punched her in the face several times and started kicking her in the face and arms. He continued to assault her until she was able to run down the stairs and outside to scream for help.

Police described that the victim continued to scream for help until Yang forced her back inside by dragging her, according to the police report. He continued to force her to the ground until she was able to get free and call 911.

Two children also were present during the time of the incident between Yang and the woman.

A records check state that Yang is a convicted felon in Minnesota and has a history of violence. He is being held without bond.
