ORU Basketball Player Arrested for Attempted Strangulation of Girlfriend

ORU basketball player Steven Roundtree was arrested Sunday morning on allegations that he tried to strangle his pregnant girlfriend.
Tulsa Police responded to the scene where it was visible his 23-week pregnant girlfriend had marks on her mouth and face, according to the booking report.
Officers described that the victim's injuries were a direct result of Roundtree striking her in the mouth with his hands, grabbing her by the face and pulling her throughout the apartment. Roundtree also held the victim down while covering her face with a pillow in an attempt to suffocate her.
Additionally, Roundtree also put his arm around her neck, choking her. The victim stated it was diffficult for her to breathe throughout the incident.
During the altercation, the victim took the phone and attempted to call 911. Roundtree took the phone away and destroyed it, to prevent her from calling for police or medical assistance.
Upon attempted contact by officers, Roundtree fled on foot, ignoring orders to stop, according to the police report. He fled when police tried to question him.
He then returned to the victim's residence, taking her car without permission. Her vehicle was later recovered at Roundtree's residence. Roundtree still had her keys in his pocket when he was arrested.
Roundtree was booked on several complaints, including domestic strangulation, obstruction of justice, unauthorized use of a vehicle and domestic violence.
