Officers described that the victim's injuries were a direct result of Roundtree striking her in the mouth with his hands, grabbing her by the face and pulling her throughout the apartment. Roundtree also held the victim down while covering her face with a pillow in an attempt to suffocate her.

Additionally, Roundtree also put his arm around her neck, choking her. The victim stated it was diffficult for her to breathe throughout the incident.

During the altercation, the victim took the phone and attempted to call 911. Roundtree took the phone away and destroyed it, to prevent her from calling for police or medical assistance.

He then returned to the victim's residence, taking her car without permission. Her vehicle was later recovered at Roundtree's residence. Roundtree still had her keys in his pocket when he was arrested.
