Several floral shops in the area said this year's Mother's Day sales were a welcome boost for business.
"It stays awfully hectic around here," said Stuart Maus with Ted and Debbie's Flower and Garden. "We have a whole bunch of last minute people coming in trying to get floral arrangements done."
Maus said recent cold, damp weather has meant slightly less foot traffic. He said this is because people do not generally want to shop outside when it's cold and rainy. Similarly, people were less motivated to do any planting when the ground was cold.
Maus said Ted and Debbie's had several hundred deliveries each day recently, thanks to the Mother's Day holiday. There were also several customers that shopped Sunday for last minute flowers.
Ted and Debbie's was open Sunday, however its floral arrangements section was closed to be able to give mothers that work there the day off.
Channel 8 called around the area to different flower shops Friday. One of them said at that time, it was no longer taking additional Mother's Day orders due to the rush. Every other shop Channel 8 called, aside from Ted and Debbie's, was closed Sunday.
