Tulsa Police arrested a 26-year-old man Monday on allegations that he physically assaulted his girlfriend and her son last weekend.

Officers arrested Uvaldo Espazra-Ortiz and booked him on several complaints, including domestic assault with a deadly weapon and threatening a violent act. He was taken into custody following an incident with his girlfriend who claimed he assaulted her.

According to a release from TPD, when officers arrived on scene in the area of 10700 E. 41st St. they spoke to the women who stated Ortiz woke her out of her sleep by banging her head against a wall. He then dragged her to the bathroom, pulled out a knife and cut her arm.

Ortiz reportedly told the victim that "she would not live to see tomorrow, and that he was going to kill her and flee to Mexico with their daughter."

The victim told officers that he began kicking and punching her and during the attack her son began to cry. When she attempted to leave with her son, Ortiz grabbed the child out of her hands and threw him on the ground injuring his nose.

Ortiz left the scene and was located until Monday back at the apartment where the assault occurred.

Officers also booked him for child abuse, domestic assault and battery in presence of a minor and for an outstanding warrant for domestic assault and battery.
