Motorcyclist Eludes Police, Ends Pursuit with Crash

Posted: Updated:

A motorcyclist is in an area hospital Thursday morning following an incident where he attempted to elude police after they found him driving recklessly.

Sand Springs Police attempted to stop the male motorcyclist after they witnessed him traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 97 weaving in and out of traffic. When he became aware that officers were trying to pull him over, the male proceeded to drive off running through two red lights in the process.

Officers told KTUL that he crashed the motorcycle when he arrived near the area of Highway 97 and 41st street. When they caught up to the scene of the wreck they were made aware by the suspect that he had a gun.

The male was taken to the hospital and is being treated for minor injuries. No vehicles were damaged during the pursuit.

Once he is released from the hospital, police expect to charge him for the traffic violations and eluding the officer.
