Drillers and Cardinals Play 15 Innings

Posted: Updated:

On a night where hometown pitcher Parker Frazier's jersey was the promotional giveaway the Drillers and Cardinals put on a pitching display.

Tulsa got on the board in the bottom of the second with a home run by Jose Gonzalez.  The Drillers catcher put one over the wall in right. Springfield right fielder Adam Melker almost made a spectacular play flipping over the wall, but he could hold on to the ball.

The Drillers lead the game 1-0 until the Cards tied things up in the top of the ninth. Jake Lemmerman doubles on a ground ball to left fielder Kyle Parker. James Ramsey scored to make it 1-1.

Both teams continued good pitching and defense until the bottom of the 15th when Tulsa won the game.  Angelys Nina singles on a soft ground ball to first baseman Xavier Scruggs. Rafael Ortega scored the game winner.

The Drillers snap a 6-game losing streak as they beat Springfield Thursday night 2-1.

Tulsa continues their homestand Friday as they welcome Northwest Arkansas to town.  First pitch is set for 7:05pm.
