Police: Man Hit In Tulsa Parking Lot Should Recover

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa Police say the victim of a bizarre South Tulsa crime should survive.

The man was hit by a car while walking in the Walmart parking lot near 81st and Lewis Thursday night.

Police said the driver of a sedan hit the man hard, sending him through the air and onto a car's windshield. The glass shattered and he fell to the pavement.

The man driving kept on going and hit the store just feet from the front entrance. After the crash, he got out and ran. A woman in the passenger seat was injured and stayed with the car.

Despite suffering several broken bones, the victim was talking with police and detectives on the way to the hospital.

Police continue to search for the driver, who ran north from Walmart. Detectives are working to develop more information about the man.

No one else was hurt. The store reopened a short time later.
