Sooners Season Comes To An End: OU Falls To LSU

Posted: Updated:

The Sooners were just two wins away from their first College World Series since 2010 - all they had to do was win a best of three series against No. 4 LSU in Baton Rouge, LA.

That ended up being easier said than done.  After getting just two hits in the Game 1 loss, OU took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning of Game 2.  But that lead would be short-lived.  LSU responded with a run in the second, third, fourth, sixth, and eighth before added an exclamation point with a six-run top of the ninth inning.  The Tigers eliminate the Sooners in Game 2, 11-1.

Oklahoma's lone RBI was courtesy of Max White, who went one for three with a walk.  Dillon Overton started on the mound for OU, throwing five and two-thirds innings while giving up seven hits and four runs (three earned).

The College World Series begins on June 15th in Omaha, NE.
