Police "Pursuit" Planned To Benefit Families Of Fallen Officers

Posted: Updated:

Officers - of sorts - will race down Tulsa's Riverparks on a mission to run down perpetrators and prizes.

The themed Cops and Robbers 5K race is set for Tuesday evening. Participants can put on their most creative police or robber costume.

Organizers call it one of Tulsa's most fun and unique races. "Robbers" will be stationed along the course carrying bags of prizes or cash. The runners have to catch up to the robbers in order to win their loot.

The Oklahoma Gang Investigators Association is hosting the event.

"The goal is to raise awareness and stop gang violence in our community. All the proceeds will go to the OGIA's Downed Officers Fund," a press release states.

According to the event's website, there is still time to register. Head to the Tulsa Police Riverside division between 12:00pm and 5:00pm Tuesday to sign up.

The hot pursuit begins at 7:00pm near 96th and Riverside.
