Tulsa Schools Measuring Public Perception Of District

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa public schools leaders want to know what parents and patrons think about the district.

They've just released an online survey that asks folks to rate Tulsa Schools in several areas.

According to a district press release, the questionnaire aims to gauge:

-The quality of educational programs at Tulsa Public Schools (district- and school-level) and the level of improvement.

-Perceived impact of the quality of TPS schools on property values, the local economy and people's willingness to relocate to Tulsa.

-The importance of keeping school buildings up-to-date and in good condition.

-The effectiveness of the district's communication efforts with parents and the community.

-Education reform efforts at TPS, including Teacher & Leader Effectiveness and the development of a new teacher evaluation system that has been adopted by 500 school districts statewide.

-Opinion of the district's financial stewardship of public funds.

-The success of recent changes, including the expansion of language immersion programs, monthly "early release" Fridays and an expanded summer school program.

District superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard said the survey will help the district determine public perceptions.

"We are proud of the many positive changes that Tulsa Public Schools has made in the last couple of years, particularly in the areas of student achievement and Teacher & Leader Effectiveness," said Dr. Keith Ballard, TPS Superintendent. "We are doing everything we can to ensure that we have an effective teacher in every classroom and an effective leader in every building."

The survey is posted at www.tulsaschools.org/survey, it's open for input from now until Wednesday, June 19th.
