Facebook Welcoming #hashtags

Posted: Updated:

Facebook is following in the footsteps of Twitter, introducing the ever-popular hashtags to the social media site this week.

The goal is to make it easier for Facebook users to search and connect to content, giving a snapshot of exactly what people are talking about -- and a simple way to get in on the discussion.

Many other social media sites, including Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr already employ the use of hashtags.

Facebook plans to roll out more hashtag-related features in the coming months.
