Last Day of Free Testing for Dr. Harrington Patients Today

Posted: Updated:

Friday marks the final day of free testing for patients of the Tulsa dentist accused of unsanitary practices at his two offices.

Former patients of Dr. Scott Harrington can receive testing for hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV infections for free until Friday, June 28th at a screening clinic set up at the North Regional Health and Wellness Center on 5635 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Any ex-patient of Harrington's who has received a notification letter in the mail and has not yet been tested is encouraged to call the facility directly to make an appointment -- that number is 918-595-4380.

Patients with negative test results who had dental procedures in the Harrington clinic between Sept. 20, 2012, and March 20, 2013, were recommended to return for follow-up testing at least six months past the last dental clinic date at the Harrington practice.

Those patients will still receive follow-up testing at no cost.

Screenings after June 28 will be provided Monday-Thursdays by appointment only.

As of Wednesday evening, the Oklahoma State Dept. of Health and the Tulsa Health Dept. have reported 77 patients have tested positive for Hepatitis C, five for hepatitis B and four for HIV.

Nearly 4,000 people have had their blood drawn for testing related to this case at county health departments.

While the free testing will stop on Friday, health officials said the epidemiological investigation will continue.

The public was notified of unsafe and unsanitary practices at Harrington's Tulsa and Owasso practices in late March.
