Family describes 'unspeakable grief' after twin's homicide

WYLAM - AL -

Birmingham police have not made an arrest in this case that has turned a normally quiet neighborhood in Wylam upside down.

Police are still searching to find the three suspects connected with the shooting that killed Jonathan and Jeremi Berry Friday night. Now, nearly three days later, the double homicide is taking a toll on the family.

The family says the suspects forced their way into the house on Attalla Street just before their mother arrived home. One of the suspects shot and killed both twins and shot the mother.

The mother, Latasha Berry, is still at the hospital recovering. Family members say she's paralyzed from the waist down and will likely miss her son's funeral.

The twins cousin, Tiffanie Berry says, "She wants to get up and move around and she can't, it's just so hard to know that I can't do anything to help her." Meantime, the family continues to ache waiting for answers.

"It's just hard, for somebody to just take our family away from us," says Berry.

The funeral is set for the Berry twins for Saturday, July 6th at Faith Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Bessemer. The family is asking for help with donations to help with the funeral expenses. To donate you can go to any Wells Fargo Bank.
