Shock Extend Losing Streak To Four

The Tulsa Shock finish up a four game road swing Tuesday night with their fourth straight loss.  The Connecticut Sun beat Tulsa 88-69 and snap a four-game losing streak of their own.

Riquna Williams led the way for Tulsa with a game-high 23 points.

“That’s my job." Riquna said, "My job is to come off the bench and bring energy for this team. That’s just my job. I know what I am capable of. I know after the first couple of plays that I’m out there what a team is going to do to me defensively. They played me straight up and I took advantage of it.”

 

Tulsa Shock head coach Gary Kloppenburg wasn't surprised by Williams offensive punch off the bench.

“She has a great ability to score." Kloppenburg said, "She can really score for us. She comes in off the bench and can really give us a lift. Right now, she is really our only guard that’s doing any damage. We’re really struggling at the point guard and shooting guard positions to get any scoring.”

Only two other Tulsa players scored in double figures.  Both Glory Johnson and Nicole Powell scored 10.

Coach Kloppenburg thought tonight's loss had a lot to do with it being the Shock's four road game in 9-days.

"It’s definitely an issue for us tonight. Fatigue definitely played a part in tonight’s loss. We’re just concerned because we haven’t been shooting the ball very well lately. It makes it difficult because when you’re not shooting the ball, you’re always on defense. You’re always on your heels. We have a little bit of a layoff now, so when we get back, we just need to regroup and try to get our confidence back. We’re doing some good things, but the bottom line in this game is you have to put the ball in the basket.”

 

The Shock have some time to rest up for their next contest.  They host the Los Angeles Sparks nine days from now.
