Former Stillwater Officer Charged with Removing Drugs from Department
A former Stillwater police officer was charged with a felony count earlier this week on suspicion of stealing drugs from the department's prescription disposal container.
Prosecutors with the Payne County District Attorney's office filed the charge against Thomas McConaghy on Monday. Court documents state that he is being charged with one count of larceny of a controlled drug.
According to the initial filing obtained by KTUL, McConaghy allegedly removed the prescription drugs from the department back in May of this year. Those drugs included:
- Hydrocod + Apap Tab
- Promethazine Tab
At the time, McConaghy was a sergeant for the Stillwater Police Department. The charge states that he removed the drugs with the intent to use and benefit for himself.
Court documents state that imprisonment for the charge could lead to 10 years and a fine of up to $100,000.
